Don’t let the name fool you: Keaton Beach Hot Dog Stand is neither a stand nor a hot dog place.

Sure, you can get a hot dog, but you’re more likely to find folks enjoying seafood, burgers and a stunning sunset at this beachside restaurant. The raw bar outdoors boasts a second-story deck with even better views and Gulf breezes. Our son’s best friend, a bacon-cheeseburger connoisseur, pronounced his the best he’d yet had on our road trip — and he had many. We liked the grouper sandwich and the fish dinner, too.

After a meal, don’t miss a walk down the pier and a stop at the Hodges Park playground if you have kids in tow. Time your outing right, and you’ll see a sunset you won’t soon forget.
