Fanning Springs Voted one of Florida’s Top Parks for 2010
Located on the Suwannee river, Fanning Springs is one of North Florida’s many first magnitude springs and is one of the most popular parks in Florida. Voted number 18 of the top 25 Florida state parks, Fanning Springs offers many activities including swimming, canoeing, camping, hiking and biking.
Camping is available in both cabins and primitive camp sites, and reservations may be made up to 11 months in advance. Visitors looking to stay in a cabin are advised to make reservations early, as the cabins fill up fast especially in the summer. Cabins cost $100.00 per night, and there is a two night minimum on weekends and holidays. Pets are not welcome in the cabins, however they are welcome in the primitive camping areas.
Aside from swimming and camping, the park also offers a .75 mile hiking trail. This trail is a great place to see white-tailed deer, barred owls, and other native florida wildlife. Pets are welcome so long as they are on a leash. More information can be found at the park website.
