Poe Springs State Park: Hiking, Kayaking, Swimming, and Family Fun
Poe Springs is a great place to visit, especially for those in the Gainesville area. It is one of the largest springs in the Gainesville area, and tends to be one of the least crowded. Now that the weather has started to heat up in North Florida, it is a great time to start visiting the springs. The cool water is sure to feel refreshing after sitting in the hot sun.
Poe Springs offers fishing in designated areas, canoeing, kayaking, swimming and also features a great nature hike for those who don’t want to get their feet wet. Scuba diving and pets are not allowed in the park. The park is open from 9am to sunset, and admission for everyone 4 and up is $5. Its a great day trip for Gainesville residents, and it is well the ride out for a day of picnicking, swimming, and family fun.

Poe Springs Park is a County Park, not a State Park. The Park is open Thursday – Sunday 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at no charge.
Thanks for the catch Kim. Alachua County does a wonderful job of providing numerous parks for its residents and visitors to enjoy, and Poe Spring is one example of that.
