Cedar Key Mound
Levy County is home to Cedar Key Mound, a Native American cultural excavation site. Visitors are invited to walk the boardwalk and observe thousands of years worth of development from the Timucua Indians. This site is one of Cedar Key’s most visited areas by tourists, locals and archaeologists. The trail is short, scenic and leads to the waterfront of Cedar Key Beach.
Atsena Otie Key is located a short distance away from Cedar Key Mound. This Key is rich in history, as it was originally used as a Native American trading post during the First Seminole War. Atsena Otie Key offers a two-mile hiking trail, and a kayaking or ferry ride touring experience. Visitors are encouraged to explore the trail as the original settlers did, while enjoying the Wildlife Refuge, sandy beach or a stroll through the overhanging trees.
Cedar Key
